Empowering Future STEM Leaders
The Eddie L. Scholarship Foundation exists to honor the legacy of a dedicated community activist who, throughout his life, broke barriers through his perseverance and achievements. This scholarship is created to continue in this tradition, by offering financial support to those students who were least expected to achieve success, and in doing so, ultimately holding the door open for others to enter.
Our Mission & Approach
At the Eddie L. Chambers Scholarship Foundation, we are dedicated to guiding and supporting talented students in Warrensville Heights High School to pursue higher education and careers in STEM fields. We believe in providing comprehensive assistance and fostering a nurturing environment to help students achieve their full potential.
Our Process & Criteria
Applications accepted until April 30th of each year.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants for the annual scholarship must be:
1. African American / African Caribbean Black senior at Warrensville Heights High School.
2. Accepted in one of the following STEM-based post diploma programs: technical college, certification program, associate or baccalaureate STEM program within the United States.
3. In good academic standing with at least a 2.7 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum of a C+ average in the subjects of math and science.
Applicants must also complete and submit an essay responding to the following prompts in 500 words or less:
● What is the value of STEM in African American/African Caribbean Black life and culture?
● Reflect on your personal journey (e.g., family and community influences, personal, social or academic challenges or hardships that you have experienced, and any other life experiences that you would like to highlight.
● Describe your educational and career interests (including short & long goals) within STEM and any factors that influence your interest in this area.
● Indicate why you believe you are a good candidate for the scholarship.
